A year ago, a butterfly emerged from its cocoon.
Its wings beautiful shades of purple and yellow.
The caterpillar it once was became what it wanted all along.
It flew from the cocoon and left to explore the world with new eyes.
It found the one it loves and has accomplished great things.
But when it looks back,
It sees you there
Sitting, Waiting, for the butterfly
To crawl back into its cocoon
And return to a caterpillar.
The butterfly wants you to see how beautiful it is –
To meet its new version and love it like you loved the caterpillar.
But you don’t.
You don’t see how beautiful it is.
And now, the butterfly struggles to fly.
It wishes it were still a caterpillar, smiling through the pain.
The butterfly lands.
The world eats it,
As it no longer has the strength
to fly.
